Introduction
============
Wildcat Quick Quotes (WCQQ) is a 32-bit WCX application that will work
ONLY on Wildcat 5 systems. It allows users to leave "one liners" each
time they log on. It automatically checks the entry for vulgarity and
either adds the uers initials or leaves the quote anonymous (after asking
the user ofcourse). The second part of this program is a module that acts
like a lottery picker and allows users to win extra time online. Here
are some of the features of wcQQ:
√ FREE REGISTRATION!!
√ Unregistered version totally functional
√ Randomizes colorizes quotes automatically
√ Inserts users initials automatically (if selected)
√ No time deduction (2 mins added if user participates)
√ Self-maintaining (file trimmed if necessary)
√ Random "lottery" option (WCQQPICK.WCX companion pgm necessary)
√ No additional "run time" modules needed (BRUN40, BRUN45, etc)
√ "On the fly" Vulgar language (user configurable "bad list")
Registration for wcQQ
=====================
Registration for wcQQ is FREE!! You can call the home board and generate
the registeration number online within 2 minutes. You then plug this number
into the WCQQ.CFG file and it will activate the registered mode. If you
already have registered WCQQ for your Wildcat v4 system, the same rnumber
will work now (as long as your bbs name has not changed). When the program
is registered:
√ [Register via Top Cat BBS!] msg will be replaced with *your* BBS Name
√ Sponsor Names (line 3 of cfg file) can be displayed on screen
√ You are participating in the shareware concept
Setting up wcQQ
=================
wcQQ is relatively easy to set up. If you have any problems, support is
available on the Home board. If you any any comments or suggestions, please
forward them asap. The following steps should get you up and running in
under 5 minutes:
1. Unzipping the archive
---------------------
Unzip the contents of the archive into the Wildcat home directory.
2. Editing the Configuration file
------------------------------
wcQQ reads most of its settings from a configuration file called
WCQQ.CFG. This is a simple ascii file that must be modified to
reflect your personal preferences. The format for each line in the
file is noted in the WCQQ.CFG file. This file must also reside in
the wildcat home directory, so go edit it now!
3. Setting up the WCQQ.WCX
-------------------------
wcQQ is most effective when run as part of the users logon script. It can
be setup as a menu option but the first method is the prefered way. It
you currently have the source code for the default Wildcat logon script
(LOGON.WCC), you may edit it and add the line:
RUN "WCQQ"
to it. If you do not have the source or do not want to mess with it,
just copy the LOGONQQ.WCX (included in the archive) to your Wildcat home
directory and rename it to LOGON.WCX.
^^^^^^
4. Relax
-----
That's it - you are done.
What's the WCQQ.BAD file for
===========================
The WCQQ.BAD file is a straight ascii file that contains words and/or
phrases that you wish to "bleep" out of quotes entered by users. Be warned,
the sample file that comes with this archive may contain words too harsh
for the innocent, but nevertheless, it is sufficient to weed out most
vulgar words. If you run a "no holds barred" board then just delete this
file and anything goes.
Weekly Contest
==============
Ahh, features galore! If a user opted to add his/her inital to the quote,
then the quote is added to the WCQQ.LOG file together with the users
UserId. The addon program (WCQQPICK.WCX) can be run as an event when ever
you deem necessary (daily, weekly, etc..) to RANDOMLY pick a winning entry
from this WCQQ.LOG file. The user will then recieve a personal message
notifying him/her that they have won the drawing. Not only is the winners
name displayed at the top of the display file but bonus minutes are added
to the users online time automatically as a prize (currently set at 15
mins).
Registration for wcQQPICK
==========================
Registration for wcQQPICK is NOT FREE!! This companion program costs
$5.00 (US) to register! This module will allow you to run the "lottery"
and award prizes (time) to the winning users. This module is TOTALLY
self maintaining - no need for sysop intervention. This is a great in-
centive for users to participate. I have had excellent response with
this contest. Contact the home board for information on how to obtain
wcQQPICK. Remember, wcQQ and wcQQPICK are 2 seperate programs. wcQQ does
NOT need wcQQPICK to run by itself, but wcQQPICK needs wcQQ to operate.
